Anyone Built an AK before?
I have two Romanian AK kits that I bought a few years ago for a paltry $100 each (had I only known, I would have backed up the truck at that price).
Anyway, I'd like to buy a couple Nodak receivers and put them together. Anyone have any experience doing this? I'd like some input on recommended receivers, trigger groups, etc. If anyone is in my area and has or can do this, please let me know. Thanks. |

Check out the hometown forum for your area at www.ar15.com
They'll probably have a build party scheduled, at which a bunch of guys with the proper tools and know how will be able to walk you through it. The Nodak reciever is the best hands down, and the Tapco G2 is the bread and butter trigger group. You can do better, but you'll pay through the nose. |
Re: Anyone Built an AK before?
I would definitely not do a screw-together build. I mean, that's just blasphemy, plus the possibility of screws backing out.
TR Graham (he's on GlockTalk, War Rifles, et al) is an excellent AK-smith. I've met him and have examined his handiwork. His work is excellent. He's located in Pasadena, TX. |

At least give him an AK47 site. Like this one. http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/forumd...p?s&forumid=77 Good folks with lots of info. Always nice to have someone who will help you with the build. |
Re: Anyone Built an AK before?
Umm, there's more traffic on the AK section at ARFCOM than any of the AK forums, except maybe AK47.net, which is a sister site to ARFCOM. Besides the fact that I know there are build parties going on at the site I mentioned, and am not familiar with every AK site out there.

Re: Anyone Built an AK before?
Thanks...I checked though and didn't see anyone near my area.
Also, I was in fact thinking of doing a screw build to begin with as it'll be easy to undo it and rivet later after I make sure I did it right (or fix what I screwed up). That is unless I could actually find some experienced builders locally... |
